Whether you’re going to Disneyland, or dreaming of going one day, it’s hard not to LOVE Disney and want to rock awesome Disney gear every chance you get. Make one of these DIY Disney inspired crafts, and enjoy your own DIY Disney creation as you plan for your trip to the amusement park.
6 Diy Disney Crafts You Can Wear
You’re going to love making these Disney crafts.
1. DIY Disney Little Mermaid Ears
If you have a little girl who loves Little Mermaid as much as my sister does then trust me she will love these Little Mermaid Ears. See more at seevanessacraft.com.
What You Will Need To Make The DIY Little Mermaid Headband
- Headband
- Purple Ribbon
- Hot Glue Gun
- Foam Board
- X-acto Knife
- Red Sequin Fabric
- Green Sequin Fabric
- Scissors
- Spray Adhesive
- Green Ribbon
- Pearls
- Seashell
Step One: Wrap the purple ribbon around the headband. Use the hot glue gun to keep the ribbon tight.
Step Two: Download and print out the Mickey Ear Template from Disney Family. Then follow the template with scissors and cut out your ears.
Step Three: Place the headband down on a table and position the template ears a couple inches apart under the headband. Trace the headband onto the template and cut out the half moon shape. We’ll be gluing our ears directly on the headband, so you’ll need to it fit perfectly. (For children, ears should be approximately 1 inch apart. For adults, ears should be approximately 2 inches apart.) Or come up with your own fun way to put the ears on.
Step Four: Trace the ear template onto the foam board 4 times and cut using an X-Acto knife. Please be careful when using the knife.
Step Five: Trace the ear template onto the green sequin fabric twice and cut slightly larger than the trace line.
Step Six: Hot glue 2 layers of foam board together. You’ll have 2 ears with 2 pieces of foam board each.
Step Seven: Spray one side of foam ears with spray adhesive and wrap the green sequin fabric around one side of the ear, just overlapping slightly on the sides. Repeat for the other side and other ear.
Step Eight: Wrap green ribbon around the sides of the ear to cover the fabric “seams”. No need to wrap ribbon around the bottom, half moon part.
Step Nine: Hot glue the fabric covered ears to the ribbon a couple inches apart. Press and hold for 30 seconds until the glue cools and the ears are secure.
Step Ten: Decorate the ears with a red sequin fabric bow, seashells, and pearls.

What You Will Need to Make This Disney Jewelry
- Cricut Cutting Machine (Explore, Air or Explore One)
- Cricut Design Space free online software
- Disney Mickey head cut file (image #M4008B)
– custom layout of this Mickey Ears design, you should be able to start your project from here. - Heart shape cut file
- Printable shrink plastic
- Rainbow Art page designed by Jen Goode (download below)
- Parchment paper, cookie sheet and hot pads
- Jewelry findings for earrings – I used a hook and jump ring
- Jewelry pliers
- Sealer – optional but recommended
To create the Mickey heart design in Cricut Design Space
- Select the outlined Mickey head from the Cricut design library.
- Ungroup the design.
- Click Contours. deselect the inside circles of the Mickey design. This will create a Mickey cut file as a solid shape.
- Add a heart shape from the “shapes” menu on the left of Design Space.
- Place the heart in the center of the Mickey head. Select everything and click slice. This will cut out the heart shape from the Mickey head and leave a cut out shape of the heart as well. Hide the heart by clicking the eye icon on the layer pallet.
- Repeat step #5 with a circle to create the jewelry circle in each piece.
Step One: Download the rainbow art (go to site hyperlinked above).
Step Two: Print rainbow art on printable shrink plastic.
Step Three: Set up the cutting design you’d like in Cricut Design Space. Line up the cut designs with the placement of the color blocks on your printout. Just measure the placement on your printout and then align the cut lines on the virtual mat in Design Space.
Step Four: To cut the shrink plastic you need to just the shrink plastic through repeated cuts. I did 3 cuts at the cardstock setting and then 2 cuts at the poster board setting. The cut pieces then need to be carefully removed. Using the weeding tool is helpful, just be careful not to tear the plastic.
Step Five: Once you have all your plastic cutouts removed, place on a parchment paper lined cookie sheet and back for 5-10 minutes until completely shrunk down. You’ll know the shrinking is finished when the plastic is no longer bent, smaller but flat. Remove from oven and allow to cool.
Step Six: Add the jewelry findings to create earrings.
Step Seven: Optionally apply sealer to both sides of each earring. I really like the Decoart brand Triple Thick. When it’s dry it looks like a resin, high shine finish… very pretty.
3. DIY Disney Bleached Out Shirt
Instead of going out and buy one of those Disney shirts from the store, why not make a family trip shirt? The family can match, and you have an easier way to keep an eye on the little ones.

What You Will Need for Disney Bleached Out Shirt
- t-shirts
- freezer paper
- iron
- Mickey Mouse template
- spray bottle
- bleach
- pencil

Step One: Print out the template you want to use.
Step Two: Trace the template onto freezer paper.
Step Three: Cut out the image from freezer paper.
Step Four: Iron the freezer paper stencil to the t-shirt.
Step Five: Mix your bleach solution.
- Fill the spray bottle with about 60% bleach and then 40% water.
Step Six: Place cardboard inside the shirt.
Step Seven: Spray away.
Step Eight: Carefully remove the freezer paper template.
Step Nine: Let the shirt dry and then rinse off with water (cold water works best).
4. DIY Disney Princess Duct Tape Hand Mirror
The best part about going to Disney Land is getting those souvenirs that you get to bring back with you. With this DIY craft, you might be the only one bringing a souvenir into the park.

What You Will Need
- Hand mirror, $1
- Patterned duct tape, $9 (you can get it on Amazon)
- Scissors, on hand
- Ribbon (optional), $1 and up
Step One: Cover the back of the mirror with overlapping strips of duct tape. Since the Disney Princess Duck Tape is a continuous pattern, you can match up the pattern if you want. Leave about 1″ overlapping duct tape around the sides.
Step Two: Trim the tape around the mirror so the duct tape is an even distance around the outside of the mirror.
Step Three: Cover the front of the mirror handle with duct tape.
Step Four: Cut slits into the duct tape around every curved area (I just cut slits into the whole thing, about 1″ apart from each other).
Step Five: Gently wrap the duct tape tabs you cut around the edges of the mirror, smoothing to eliminate creases, wrinkles, and bubbles.
How To Make The Fringe:
Step One: First, cut a strip of duct tape and fold it lengthwise (long way), leaving about 1/2″ of the sticky part exposed.
Step Two: Cut slits into the duct tape on the folded side. Cut up to the edge of where you folded, but leave the sticky part of the tape intact.
Step Three: Using the sticky part of the fringe, apply the fringe to the edge of the mirror. Because of the fringing technique, these pieces have a bit of give, so they go around the curved mirror pretty easily.

5. DIY Disney BB-8 Shirt
It seems that Star Wars has come back into the realm of popularity, so here’s an easy shirt for that BB-8 lover.
What You Will Need for Disney BB8 Shirt
- Solid Color Shirt
- Iron On Transfer Paper

- Iron
Step One: There is only one step. When you get the iron on transfer paper, it will come with instructions on how to do it. So just follow the directions and you are done.
6. DIY Disney Trip Countdown Tracker
I know I was always impatient as a kid, so this Trip Countdown Trackers would have been perfect for me!
What You Will Need To Make the DIY Disney Countdown
- framed chalkboard (this one is 5×7, purchased at JoAnn)
- Disney-inspired washi tape (there are LOTS of options out there – here are two on Amazon: Disney washi 4 pack, Disney washi 3 pack with polka dots)
- Scissors
- Vinyl & an electronic cutting machine (like Silhouette or Cricut Explore) -OR- silver paints pens & a template
- Chalk
- Glue or adhesive (*optional)
Step One: Cover the frame of the chalkboard with the tape that you chose.
Step Two: Print out your template. If you don’t have a machine to use, you could always use a paper template and trace it with a paint pen.
Step Three: Trace the templates. (You can find a template for the Disney font as well).
That’s it! Just use a piece of chalk to do the countdown, make sure to keep it someplace where everyone can see it. Believe me the kids will be checking it.
