A great and easy snack for anytime. We buy extra pumpkins every year after Halloween, just so we can harvest the seeds. Pumpkin seeds can also be purchased dried, and are available all year round in some grocery stores.
Step 1: Ingredients/Supplies
Ingredients:
- A pumpkin or dried pumpkin seeds (sold in some grocery stores and also online)
- Butter
- Seasoning salt
- Crushed fresh garlic or 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
Supplies:
- Oven
- Timer
- Pan
- Plate/napkins
- Strainer
- Microwave
Step 2: Prep
Preheat the oven to 300 degrees. Begin by separating the seeds from the pumpkin. Place the seeds on a plate or napkin. Make sure that you don't have too much pumpkin pulp.
Step 3: Rinse
Place the seeds in the strainer and rinse. Then place them on a paper towel or directly in the pan to dry.
Step 4: Seasoning the seeds
Put the butter in a microwave-safe container and microwave for 15-25 seconds, depending on how much butter you're using. Add the fresh garlic or garlic powder to this mixture and stir. Then take the seeds and place them evenly across the pan. Spread the butter across the seeds thoroughly and gently sprinkle seasoning salt over everything. Keep in mind that too much seasoning salt steals the flavor from the seeds and can ruin them.
Step 5: Cooking
Place the seeds in the oven and cook for 45-60 minutes or until golden brown.
Step 6: Finish and Serve
